🔸 Difficulty: Moderate/Hard - roughly 20km (4-5 hours) of walking across mixed terrain with some ups and downs.
🔸 Dog Friendly: dogs are welcome! There are some highland cattle and livestock in the area so dogs might need to be on leads for parts.
🔸 Cost: FREE!
As part of our visit to the Trossachs national park, we're heading off on this extended hike from Aberfoyle and through forested valleys to Loch Ard. We'll try and find a pub along the route to stop for lunch!
Free to attend but a decent level of fitness is essential, as is suitable walking boots and clothing.
Note: this is our first visit to the Trossachs and we'll be in the area for a few days so check out our other meetups for hikes and forays, and if you're travelling to the area please do get in touch! We're staying in Aberfoyle.
Rich will be leading this hike and here are some of the highlights:
🔹 An adventurous walk from Aberfoyle, along valley paths and Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and out to Loch Ard. We'll explore along the banks of Loch Ard and take in some of the best bits like Duke Murdoch's Castle and Rob Roy's Cave.
🔹 If anyone's interested in foraging/wild foods then Rich will be happy to share his knowledge along the route!
